Why Essential Oils

kick chemicals to the curb

The average person comes into contact with over 300 chemicals on their body a day. For women, over 80 are applied before breakfast. That was shocking to me. Things like weird unexplained body aches, fatigue, lethargy, headaches, digestive issues, sinus issues, respiratory problems, asthma, skin rashes, nausea, foggy brain, hot flashes, stress, fear, chronic inflammation, infertility, cancer and a multitude of other issues we cause ourselves by the chemicals we apply to our bodies, breath in and even eat. Most of those chemicals, over 100 thousand in fact, were grandfathered in by the Toxic Substance Control Act of 1976. Which means those chemicals have never been safety tested and we have no idea what they are doing to our bodies. Just in the products that you use everyday, The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health study shows in 2,983 ingredients, 884 were toxic, 314 caused biological mutations, 218 caused reproductive problems, 778 were toxic for our bodies, 146 are known to cause cancer tumors. These items are banned in other countries but allowed in our common cleaning products, personal care and other things too.

So what do you do? For me, I decided I was the gate keeper to my home. I wanted to support my own immune and hormonal system and I wanted to use a product that I knew was pure, plant based and easy to use. I began with an easy first step. I started using essential oils to replace the chemical products in my home. I made my own foaming hand soap, face serum, dish soap, and more.

3 ways to use essential oils

There are 3 basic ways to use essential oils. Aromatically, through diffusing or inhaling the essential oil. Topically, on your skin. (Side note: anything you put on your skin can be absorbed into your blood stream in about 28 seconds. So consider all those chemicals in your current body lotions, makeup, soap products those all end up in your blood stream.) Ingesting, Young Living has an entire line of oils that are labeled Vitality which means the first recommend usage is to ingest.

A questions that always comes up with ingesting, “Is it safe?” The short answer is the pure essential oils, yes, it’s safe. In fact, the FDA gave Young Living the option to use the Vitality labels. The second question is whats the difference between the Vitality labels and the solid labels. None. There is no difference in the oils. Lavender Vitality is the same oil as Lavender with a solid label.
